A Kundalini Yoga Forward Initiative

It is part of a Kundalini Yoga Forward initiative, currently under development by Ram Singh and Dharamsal Yoga. While we guarantee the authenticity of the teachings, we also focus on their relevance in modern times, promoting reflections and initiatives in the following directions:

  • Exploring the scientific foundations of Kundalini Yoga (physiology, anatomy, neurosciences, psychology…). Developing a more rational approach to kriyas and meditations, and their effectiveness.

  • Exploring how Yoga relates to spirituality. Honoring a non-denominational sacredness. Understanding further what Yoga and religious thought share, and what distinguishes them. Honoring the common roots of Kundalini Yoga and Indian religions, esp. Sikhi, while perceiving the divergence of their respective projects. Avoiding all confusion between Yoga and religions.

  • Exploring other authentic and relevant sources, beyond the sole words of Yogi Bhajan, now particularly discredited. Promoting knowledge and study of reference yogic scriptures.

  • Creating pathways between tradition and modernity. Although Yoga is deeply rooted in Indian traditions, it has always evolved with the context in which it is taught. Any discourse from ancient India cannot be transposed into our time without a serious work of contextualization and cultural translation.

  • Psychology and ethics of teaching. Developing a pedagogy of Kundalini Yoga, applying the learning sciences to our discipline. Considering psychological dynamics at work between teacher and learner. From which must arise a reassuring and caring ethics, focused on empowering practitioners.

  • Collective intelligence and horizontality. Experiences, knowledge, diversity of approaches, innovative projects: Kundalini Yoga teachers have so much to share! We encourage the emergence of a yogic culture that reflects who we are, carrying our aspirations and values.

SEVA Kundalini Yoga 200-hour Initial Teacher Training is certified by SEVA & Dharamsal Yoga

What is Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini Yoga is a holistic practice encompassing postures (āsana), breathing techniques (prānāyāma), meditation, and more. It taps into ancient Vedic wisdom, symbolized by the coiled serpent, representing inner power and self-mastery.

This practice fosters a deep connection with oneself and the world, promoting inner peace, empowerment, and mindful action. It encourages freedom from limiting beliefs, allowing for wise choices and harmonious responses to life's challenges.

Our Approach to Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini Yoga, to us, is more than just physical movements or philosophical teachings—it's a transformative technology of self-awareness. We view it as a practice that integrates body, mind, and spirit, using meditation to unlock deeper cognitive functions often overlooked in our daily mental processes.

Central to Kundalini Yoga is the use of the body, including postures, breathwork, chanting, and more, to stimulate our nervous system and transform thought patterns. This approach focuses on the nervous and glandular systems, harnessing vitality (prāna) as a natural resource.

Through structured kriyas—complete sets of yogic practices—Kundalini Yoga purifies, balances, and transforms. It extends beyond the mat, encouraging adjustments in lifestyle habits such as diet, self-care, and daily routines, promoting a rich sense of self and its expansion into the world.

In a world of constant change, Kundalini Yoga offers a profound understanding of human nature, known as 'humanology.' It embraces open spirituality, inviting reflection, and personal connection without confining beliefs or systems.

Lastly, Kundalini Yoga fosters an open and inclusive spirituality that incorporates ethics and aesthetics. It encourages exploration, questioning, introspection, and self-awareness. This approach does not impose external beliefs but encourages individuals to connect with their inner selves, promoting a sense of aliveness and personal growth.

Join us on a journey of self-discovery, celebration, and holistic growth with Kundalini Yoga.
