New Moon Womb/Yoni Steaming with Eva Louise Williams

The Experience

Womb Steaming is a powerful ancient remedy that has been used for centuries by women worldwide to support deep wellness. Also known as yoni (vaginal) steaming, chai-yok, or bajo, it is a holistic health practice in which a woman allows the warmth of herbal steam to gently permeate the exterior of her vagina. Yoni is a Sanskrit word meaning “vagina,” “womb,” “goddess” or “origin of life,” and yoni steaming is intended to support all of these aspects of a woman.

The treatment may sound odd at first :) but the truth is that, for millennia, women have shared this powerful practice with one another, inspiring each other to heal, nourish and love our bodies. Today, countless women are rediscovering the practice.

Our wonderful Eva is starting facilitating monthly regular steams in SEVA and offers sound healing and activations. Eva is a gifted healer and has more than a decade of work with women, birth, pregnancy, sexual trauma and more.

The practice of yoni steaming is a beautiful, introspective ritual that you can incorporate as part of your monthly or bi-monthly (2x a month) self-care routine. Like our noses, the sensitive vaginal tissue is very absorbent and rich in blood supply, so the medicinal properties of the herbs used in a steam can directly enter the bloodstream. For this reason, we are selecting the herbs used for our steam with caution and correct knowledge.

Where did the practice of vaginal steaming originate?

Steaming is practiced in every region of the world. It’s perhaps the most well-known in South Korea, but also used in Sweden, Germany, Papua New Guinea, Suriname, Turkey, Italy, Cambodia, Trinidad and Tobago, Eritrea, the Navajo Nation—literally everywhere. It seems like every day there is a new country where this practice is in use.
