The Experience
The tools that the therapist will use come from ancient Japanese methods, i.e Anma and Ampuku, The therapist was taught by grand master Nir Levi.
Anma is a 5000 years old massage technique that had developed in China but nowadays known as Japanese meridian treatment and considered to be “origin of all methods” because tui-na, Thai massage and shiatsu were developed from it.
The name itself has two meanings,
the literal: AN = pressure, MA = massage/rub
and the picturesque: movement of relaxed hand.
Anma deals with in 3 main layers of the human:
Physical – skeleton and muscles, the body’s systems (respiratory, circulation, endocrine, digestion, nerves etc). In this layer the therapist uses manual techniques to restore movement and flexibility to muscles and joints and anatomical systems.
Energetic – Meridians (energetic lines on the body) and Tsubu(energetic points and centres along the meridians). activating the meridians and tsubu will significantly improve the flow of Qi (life energy) in the body and will assist the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
Emotional – the source to stagnations and illnesses. With manual techniques the therapist assists the healing of the emotional layer.
Anma is a very dynamic art of healing and has vast variety of manual techniques, such as kneading, pressing, stretching, joints mobilization, tapping and much more. Anma can be very soft and tender or deep and intensive (depending on patient needs and capability). the vast variety of built in techniques makes Anma very progressive and efficient manual therapy method, beyond that, unalike other methods in the field, Anma structures itself around unique professional treatments, healing theories and has its own rhythms.
Ampuku is an abdominal massage that originates from Anma and was separated from it about 400 years ago. It is now primarily used as an abdominal massage to release emotions. The meaning of the word is “palpation of the belly” and it’s a method of bodywork that focuses on the hara (the body’s energy center located in the belly) and in the front of the torso.
Ampuku has two methodologies, one that targets the physiological aspect of ailments, as most of our internal organs are in the belly/hara, and deals with pathologies. The other method targets the emotional aspect, which focuses on the root of diseases and stagnations. In this workshop, we will concentrate on the physiological methodology. We will learn techniques that aim to restore balance and harmony between the internal organs.
“…If we practice on the patient the Ampuku, their basic Ki will flow better and it will open stagnations. Harmony between the vital organs will increase, blood circulation will be smoother, joints become more flexible, muscles will get softer, skin becomes more supple, appetite improves, excrement and urine will go out smoothly and regullary, the strength of the memory and general vitality are increased…”
~Master Ota
The massage will be performed fully clothed on mattresses and a session will take 75-90min.

He has been an assistant to the grand-master in Anma and Ampuku, Nir Levi’s classes for 3 years, and have led himself various workshops.
When he treat, if the patient is open to working besides the physical level (muscles and other systems in the body) he will look for the stagnations at the emotional level and I do several things
Open the stagnated area
Raise to the surface/awareness that there is an emotional blockage and try to find the source of that stagnation by either talking to the person or listening to their body and then connect the painful area to the corresponding emotional pattern and behavior that lead to the situation as it is nowadays. By doing this I allow the person to receive true healing without the necessity and dependency to have treatments every week or so.
